Andres Ruiz Grijalva

Team Lead

Andres Ruiz Grijalva is a sophomore at Rutgers-Newark. His five-year service in the Marine Corps across Japan, South Korea, and the U.S. has honed his discipline and determination. As a GS-Lsamp Scholar, he is actively involved in the Pathway for Junior Scientists, a research partnership between Rutgers-Newark and Rutgers Medical School, where he dedicates his time and effort to delve into the impact of diets on the development of neurodegenerative diseases under Dr. Bocarsly. He is also a Warrior-Scholar Project alumni, a program tailored for student veterans to succeed in higher education where he spent three weeks at Notre Dame University learning about physics and the constitution, and a Service 2 School ambassador to assist veterans on their transition to higher education. He is the Latin American Association Club's Vice-President. His future in STEM is to pursue graduate school and further his research on neurodegenerative diseases.
