Brianna Suazo

Brianna Suazo is a junior at Jose Martí STEM Academy. She earned second place in the Pennsylvania Society for Biomedical Research High School Essay Contest for her research on the impact of virotherapy on glioblastoma, inspired by her cousin's experience with the disease. This accomplishment ignited her passion for medical research. As a participant in the American Chemical Society’s Project SEED program, Brianna recently investigated patterns and predictors of accelerated brain volume loss in Alzheimer’s disease and plans to continue this research throughout the school year. To enhance her understanding of engineering and mathematics, she has engaged in FDU’s META and TEOP programs. She also serves as a peer tutor in mathematics and English. Brianna aims to pursue a degree in chemical biology and aspires for a career in research or healthcare. Committed to community service, she is in the process of establishing a club to support local animal shelters and plans to join the Peace Corps after college, where she hopes to use her experiences to advance healthcare and research initiatives in underserved regions.
