Delancey Van Meir
2025 Scholar
Delancey Van Meir is a sophomore at the Bergen County Academies in the Academy for Medical Science Technology. During the summer of 2024, she volunteered at an overseas medical clinic, immersing herself in diseases and conditions that she was unfamiliar with prior. Because of her passion for medical debate and unique diseases, she founded her school’s first Medical Case Analysis Club, where she inspires and teaches her members to explore a range of specialties, discover diagnostic methods and treatments, debate controversial medical practices, utilize inductive and deductive reasoning for diagnoses, and make an impact with their own research. Currently, she is studying the effects of various angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors on the expression of the recently discovered Klotho gene, and its impacts on dermatologic anti-aging and wound healing. She also recognizes her passion for giving back to people in need, and she achieves this by being the treasurer of her school’s Operation Smile chapter. Outside of academics, her hobbies include competitive Muay Thai, fashion, singing and playing her guitar, and spending quality time with the people she loves.
