Janine Abdo
2025 Scholar
Janine Abdo is a senior at Al-Ghazaly Jr./Sr. High School in Wayne. She has conducted science research on the link between Tibial Torsion and Rheumatoid Arthritis, receiving a seal of honorable mention on her paper by her research mentors, and a publication in the "Science Now!" auto-immune disorders journal. Previously, Janine worked as a medical intern at an OB/GYN clinic, where she interacted directly with patients, medical doctors, and other health professionals to deliver quality health care, an opportunity she is endlessly grateful for as it taught her first-hand the ethics of patient communication and care. Janine founded and served as the president of her high school's STEM club for two years, hosting numerous events to increase STEM knowledge across her high school. Outside of healthcare, Janine is interested in poetry and philosophy. She has a published poetry book available in Barnes and Noble, as well as Amazon. Janine plans on studying Neuroscience, Philosophy, and Spanish when she goes on to college. Her ultimate end goal is to become a Pediatric Neurologist, with a specialization in Epilepsy, and to specifically work to help children from underserved communities.
