Julio Cervantes

Julio Cervantes is a senior at Jose Marti STEM Academy in Union City. He was the president of the Chemistry Club, which provides a peer tutoring system for students in introductory chemistry courses. Julio has conducted laboratory research at New Jersey City University concerned with the improvement of organic LEDS, as well as a focus on organometallic chemistry at Columbia University to discover and define novel complexes. He has received placement awards for his work from the New Jersey Academy of Science 69th Annual Meeting, and the 26th Annual ACS Research Competition. He has participated in UC Berkeley’s Bridge to Data Fundamentals program, which introduced Python coding as an approach to data science and strengthened analytical skills. With a focus in chemistry and physics at school, he aims to enter the medical field in the future. Outside of STEM, Julio is interested in music composition.
