Maria Diaz Quintero

2025 Scholar

Maria Gabriela Diaz Quintero is a junior at Academies at Englewood in the Biomedicine Academy. She is deeply committed to animal rights and leads an initiative that supplies medicine, food, and essentials to rescue shelters in Caribbean countries facing hardship. Maria is an active member of several clubs and organizations including Red Cross, National Honor Society, HOSA, and Science Honor Society where she engages in leadership in her community. Additionally, she works to support and uplift the Latino community within her school through her school’s Latino Alliance. This past summer, Maria enhanced her medical knowledge and networked with professionals through the Summer Youth Scholars Program at Rutgers University. Her future STEM aspirations include advancing in medical research and advocating for animal welfare. Outside of her academic and extracurricular commitments, Maria plays on her school's varsity softball and volleyball teams.
