Sapjah Zapotitla
Team Lead
Sapjah Zapotitla is a junior undergraduate student at Rowan University pursuing psychology, with a double minor in sociology and the psychology of sports and exercise, and a certificate of undergraduate study in social justice and social change. Sapjah is a first-generation Mexican-American student. Her goal is to become a voice for marginalized communities and highlight the need for resources in both mental and physical health by becoming a community-based researcher. She is a fellow of the National Institutes of Health-funded U-RISE and working to be part of University Innovation Fellows at Rowan. She’s done research on adults with autism and mental health. She’s also researched Mexican immigrants with undocumented status at Rice University. At Rowan, she was the president of the Sociology and Anthropology Club, president and PR of the Ballroom Club, the risk chair for ITSONUS, the only female wrestler, and a volunteer/manager of GetFit. Now she is the vice president and PR of EPIC Movement and the historian for Tri-Alpha. She actively provides ideas and assistance as an alumni athlete for a non-profit organization called Forging Youth Resilience, in which she has done CrossFit for over 5 years.
