Shashwat Chakraborty

2025 Scholar

Shashwat Chakraborty is a junior at Chatham High School. As the lead builder and designer for his VEX Robotics Competition Team, he has competed in three seasons, getting to the NJ State Championship each time, winning numerous awards, and reaching the World Championship. To further explore his interest in robotics, he conducted research at the Robotics and Automation Laboratory at Stevens Institute of Technology, where he did work on generalizable robotic manipulation tasks. As his passion for STEM grew, he wanted to give back to his community with his expertise, so he joined a local organization called CS Base, which aims to teach computer science to kids for free. As Director of Operations, he grew the non-profit to an international organization, and has taught nearly 1,000 kids with the help of volunteers all around the world, winning the NJ Governor's Volunteerism Award for his efforts. Outside of that, he is the CHS Computer League President, Vice President of the CHS Research Club, and an Eagle Scout. In his free time, he enjoys 3D printing and playing the cello for his school's chamber orchestra. In the future, Shashwat hopes to continue to explore his passion for robotics.
