Sophia Halm
2025 Scholar
Sophia Halm is a senior at Columbia High School in Maplewood. She has a passion for STEM, helping others, and is determined to impact her community through her love of engineering. Sophia enjoys making an impact as a member of the YMCA’s Teen Leaders Program and tutoring middle school students through her local Achieve Foundation. She is the vice president of the Debate Team, executive board member of the Minority Achievement Community Organization, a member of the National Honor Society, a cheerleader, a varsity lacrosse player, and a Girl Scout. For the past nine months ,Sophia was a researcher with the Aspiring Scholars Directed Research Program where she learned new coding languages, analyzed data, and optimized simulations. She recently completed Kode with Klossy’s summer program where she developed a website focused on analyzing the education crisis in Sub-Saharan African countries. Sophia is a Girls Who Code Alumni and was selected for Walt Disney’s Dreamers Academy, class of 2024. Sophia’s dream is to work as an Aerospace Engineer whilst creatively bridging the gap between social work and engineering to better her community.
